Washington’s First Oral Health Symposia – Oral Health Watch

In December of 2013, after over one year of review of evidence and expert testimony, the Washington State Board of Health (SBOH) adopted seven recommended oral health strategies. The purpose was to promote strategies that improve the oral health of Washington residents and guide rule and policy development activity.

To engage the community, stimulate activity within the strategies, and foster collaboration, the SBOH, in partnership with Arcora Foundation and the Empire Health Foundation held two symposia in April of 2015. Each symposium included keynote and panel presentations as well as significant time for attendees to share ideas regarding implementation of the seven strategies in small group break-outs. 140 community stakeholders attended.
