Ads spotlighting the importance of dental care for pregnant women and other vulnerable people.
Ads are now running on radio stations and news sites in the Puget Sound area and in Spokane about the importance of funding dental care for vulnerable people in Washington.
The Governor’s proposed budget would eliminate non-emergency dental care for many Medicaid- insured adults including pregnant women, people with developmental disabilities and frail, older adults in nursing homes and long-term care facilities. This drastic cut goes too far and threatens the overall health of the most vulnerable in our state.
One focus of the advertising is to raise awareness that dental disease is infectious and can be passed from moms to babies. When pregnant women have dental care it promotes healthier pregnancies and leads to better oral health for thousands of children. Preventing dental disease is a smart investment that saves money for taxpayers.
The ads encourage people to call the hotline at 1-800-562-6000 and tell legislators to protect dental care for vulnerable people. A cut to dental care is a cut to overall health care. Now is the time to take action and ensure these extreme cuts are not approved.

Please urge Congress to maintain federal Medicaid investments because preventing disease is preferable to treating illness. Apple Health (Washington state's Medicaid program) provides a wide range of preventive care services, including routine oral health care, screenings for chronic diseases ...and cancers, and immunizations so more people have a fair and equitable opportunity at healthy living. #teethmatter
